Reconnect and Grow With Couples Therapy in Connecticut

You don't have to keep having the same fight.

Couples Therapy

Maybe you're stuck in the same argument on repeat. Maybe the connection you used to feel has quietly faded, and you're not sure when it happened or how to get it back. Maybe one of you is ready to work on things and the other isn't sure it's worth it anymore. Wherever you are, you don't have to figure it out alone.

I work with couples who want honest answers about what's really going on between them — and a clear, realistic plan for moving forward.

How I Work

I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work with couples. Rather than guessing at what's wrong, my work starts with genuinely understanding your relationship — your history, your patterns, and the specific dynamics that show up when things go sideways.

The goal of couples therapy is not open-ended venting week after week — it's focused, collaborative work toward the changes you're actually trying to make.

My focus is the relationship itself — not either of you individually. I'm not here to diagnose or treat one partner; I'm here to understand what's gone off track between you and help you find your way back to each other.

How Couples Counseling Works

Here's what the process looks like when we start working together:

  • A joint session — we'll talk through your relationship history, how you met, and how things have shifted over time.
  • Individual sessions with each of you (separately) — a chance for me to hear your perspective one-on-one, without your partner in the room.
  • An online relationship questionnaire — you'll each complete a research-based questionnaire that gives us a clearer, data-informed picture of your relationship's strengths and problem areas.
  • A feedback session (joint) — I'll share what I'm seeing, name the patterns underneath the surface conflict, and lay out a clear recommendation for what to work on and how.
  • We then begin addressing the aspects of the relationship that are driving the disconnect.

The sooner we can move through these first steps, the faster we can get into what's actually happening and start addressing it.

A Note on Commitment

Couples counseling is only effective when both partners are genuinely committed to working on the relationship. Because of this, I'm not able to begin or continue couples work if one or both partners are currently involved in an outside relationship. This isn't a judgment — it's that the process requires both people to be fully present and invested in this relationship for the work to succeed.

If this is where you're at, I'm happy to talk about what your options look like, including individual therapy to help you gain clarity on your next steps.

CONSULTATIONS

Couples Therapy Cost

Sessions are $195 per 90-minute session. The extended session length gives us real room to work — enough time to slow down, work through something fully, and not just scratch the surface before the hour runs out.

Couples counseling is offered in person only at my Woodbury office.

Couples counseling is not covered by insurance with me and is a private-pay fee. Payment is due at the time of each session.

I'm happy to answer questions about cost and payment during a free consultation call.

About Me

I'm Kevin Moshier, LCSW — a licensed clinical social worker based in Woodbury, Connecticut, with over 25 years of experience in healthcare and psychotherapy. I take a practical, straightforward approach grounded in real-life challenges rather than abstract theory, and I've completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which I use to inform how I work with couples.

My perspective is shaped not only by my clinical background but by my own life roles as a husband, father, and caregiver. My goal is to help you leave each session with real clarity and a concrete plan forward — not just another conversation.

Couples sessions are held in-person only at my Woodbury office. (I also offer secure teletherapy across Connecticut for individual therapy.)
